Steam Keys – Top Three Formula of MMORPG Games: Sandbox Formula
Sandbox formula is an adventure. Quests won’t dictate the player’s progress. Players will have to exploit the world in order to advance their level. Quests are not compulsory, accept it or not, players still gain sufficient experience to gain levels.
Albion online is a good example of an MMORPG that utilized the sandbox formula. It is complete adventure and accumulating tier of weapons and armors.
Basically, sandbox formula is guided by the players. It is not moved through questing and traveling from town to town.
Steam Keys – Top Three Formula of MMORPG Games: Linear Formula
Linear formula is predictable. Towns dictate a player’s level. Example: if you are in town A, you are a beginner. If you are in town Z, you have reached the game’s peak. Moreover, MMORPG games with linear formula are dictated by quests. Instead of an adventurer, the player is an errand boy.
Perfect world utilized the linear formula. It is based on quests. Towns dictate a player’s level.
Steam Keys – Top Three Formula of MMORPG Games: Korean Formula
The Korean formula is more like a hybrid of linear formula and sandbox formula. Wherein, ragnarok has quests, but it is not entirely focused on it.
