Torment: Tides of Numera: A Background for Steam Account Users
Torment: Tides of Numera is the long awaited sequel to the much loved 1999’s Planescape: Torment. The game will be set in a futuristic Numenera, a fantasy land that is authored by Monte Cook. Like its predecessor, Numenera will be essentially story-driven, emphasizing the interaction the main protagonist has with the fantasy world and its creatures. It features an isometric combat playstyle and has countless unique items to discover. The original release date for the game was set to December 2014 but continuously got delayed, for unconfirmed reasons, until it was finally released for Steam account users on January 2016.
Torment: Tides of Numera Plot for Steam Account Users
An ancient man has abandoned his own body to use other bodies as vessels to achieve immortality. The game follows the story of the last vessel known as Last Castoff. However, every time the ancient man leaves a body or vessel, they original owner of the body awakes with their own consciousness and have no memory whatsoever of the former resident of their body or the deeds done with them. The actions of the ancient man with these bodies have attracted a higher being called The Sorrow and it now seeks to destroy him and its creations. The Last Castoff now sets off to find the ancient man in hopes to set things right and now sets off on the adventure through the Ninth World to discover other castoffs (former vessels) to hopefully track down the ancient man.
Torment: Tides of Numera Gameplay for Steam Account Users
Torment: Tides of Numenera features the use of Unity engine to visualize the pre-rendered 2.5D isometric environments. As mentioned earlier, it will follow the steps of predecessor putting a large emphasis on storytelling which will unfold step by step through a personal narratives and character interactions. The player will the ability to select the gender of the protagonist at the character creation and choose a class as well to determine what skills and abilities they may learn. The three base character classes: Glaive (warrior), Nano (wizard) and Jack (rogue). Once the character has been created they will start their story with a “blank slate” having no knowledge or memory of the ancient man who has inhibited their body. The game will creatively make use different colored “Tides” to symbolize the reactions and feelings the character inspires in other characters. The composition of Tides ultimately determines their Legacy and different Legacies may affect what bonuses and powers certain weapons and relics provide.
