TF2 Market: Pyro In Us

On one of my articles, I said that Overwatch did a great job in creating characters with their own personalities and characteristics. Team Fortress 2 actually was kind of the first who did it in an FPS MMO setting. The different classes have different attitudes, mannerisms, etc. thus made them attractive in their genre which became a great TF2 Market.

TF2 Market: Great Analysis

There’s a fresh post in Reddit that is a great analysis on how we are all relatable to the TF2 characters especially the Pyro:

In Team Fortress 2, the nine classes are distinct characters, all with unique personalities and features. However, one of them is an exception: the Pyro. The Pyro wears a full-body suit that masks their every feature and muffles their voice. The only character trait we’re given is that the Pyro sees a very different world than we do. Instead of the violence, murder, and insanity, they see a world of rainbows, candy, and little cherubs. There’s no death in Pyroland, only happiness.

Furthermore, the Pyrovision Goggles item show that Pyroland might not be the product of insanity, but a half-virtual reality that transforms everything they see into something out of a children’s cartoon.

That’s because the Pyro represents the players.

Think about it. As players, we’re murdering people. We think it’s okay because they’re not real, because no one actually dies, but that still doesn’t change the fact that we’re virtually killing people for fun. It’s not a life-or-death battle to us, just something that we all share and enjoy. Not only that, but we even laugh at it; the comics and videos make death and brutality funny. We laugh at these grizzled mercenaries because they accidentally killed themselves, or had a fatal accident.

Furthermore, the Pyro was shown to be a very successful businessman, but would much rather be fighting, and lose himself in Pyroland. Just like how we can be successful in real life, but prefer to lose ourselves in video games filled with death and carnage.

TL;DR: The Pyro is an insane maniac because they represent us players. When we play Team Fortress 2, we’re not seeing it as it is, a horrific unending tale of violence and death, but a fun game to play. We enjoy the game, and we laugh at the comics and videos, all the while ignoring the fact that we’re enjoying virtual murder.

TF2 Market, Trade TF2

Pretty deep and relatable, right? This is one reason I won’t easily trade TF2 for any game (Overwatch is a complete exemption though, lol) because we can get deep stuff like this aside from enjoying the game.

TF2 Trading Some Great Moments

Overwatch has “Play of the Game” feature every end of the game to let everyone see the most awesome play of the match (well not always). Some of your amazing and game changing plays won’t necessarily get to be chosen as the play of the game but get to be saved in the highlights section in the main menu. This is definitely a thumbs up on Overwatch as they credit great plays in a match. Unfortunately, Team Fortress 2 doesn’t have that. If you don’t record the entirety of your game, you can’t really predict when to record that pro move of yours. Sad, I hope Team Fortress 2 had that kind of feature as well and maybe you can post it in some TF2 Trading thread.

TF2 Trading: The Very Least

So, without the Play of the Game feature in Team Fortress 2, I thought to myself, “how can we share our great moments in TF2?” without having to record the entirety of our gaming hours. Not to mention it will eat up all our disk space if we do that. Apparently, someone already made a post in Reddit asking people on some awesome plays or moments in Team Fortress 2:

What’s your most memorable TF2 experience, that you’ll probably look back on 10+ years from now

Mine is the time I first dominated this regular on this harvest server I frequent. He’s a beast, and is infamous on the server for being really good. Of course, I’d always get dommed by him, and after a while, I’d planned to get revenge.

So, one day, I rallied the entire team, and, as a pocket medic, I worked to support our 5 soldiers in an attempt to get a domination on him.

It look about an hour and a half, but finally, I healed a soldier who got a third consecutive kill on him, and finally…

THE DOMINATION

It was the first and last domination we’ll ever get. The kick was when he said in chat

“Your still trash tho”

I still go to that server

You can comment your amazing moments here as well, but it would be more awesome if we have some kind of video to back them up. You know what they say, “Pics (or vids) or it didn’t happen.” Well at least we get to share our moments here. Maybe we can choose the most wonderful moment and give out some TF2 Items? Looking forward reading your moments, everyone!

TF2 Trading: Updates

Overwatch is owning the first person shooter market now. Actually, Overwatch is owning the gaming market. So what does old man Team Fortress 2 doing about it? Will the dying game still try to retaliate? TF2 trading blows versus Overwatch? Well, these new updates, in my opinion, is an attempt to do so. Hey correct me if I’m wrong but I think they are trying to but this is just a “at least we tried” stuff going on.

TF2 Trading: News

sad

Yeah, these are just fixes. I don’t have news on the other updates but it seems people are telling everyone to not be hyped about it which I agree on. I really think TF2 should be put down. More TF2 Items won’t cut it as well. Pessimism from me for days. Can’t help it since I’m just stating the truth.

Eve Online Ships: Sharing Part 2

Last week, I shared to you guys about someone posting a story about an interesting story but unfortunately it was only the first part. I will share to you now the next part of his story in Reddit. Read on to know more stuff from the poster about Eve Online Ships and more.

Eve Online Ships

Eve Online Ships: Continuation

Here is the continuation of his post:

Like I said, I just started EVE Online. For the first couple days, I mined to make a little bit of cash while I became familiar with the controls and let my skills gradually train up. Sure, there’s a learning curve, but once you get past the overwhelming number of icons and menus, it’s really not that difficult to figure anything out – you just have to read (I feel like a lot of people just don’t do this and that’s why people complain).

During this time, I worked on my Opportunities list. I went through each one like a checklist, learning each new dynamic of the game and becoming more impressed. But then I got to the one about joining a corporation, and I sighed. Of course I knew about corporations and that they played a major part of the game, but no matter what game I play, I like to do things on my own. It’s large part of why I’ve never gotten into any MMO (even WoW).

I selected a corporation, applied, and was accepted (I won’t tell you who because I’m not asking for a WarDec, thanks). Over the coming days I felt a genuine camaraderie that I had never experienced in a game before. Every member has personal goals, it’s true, but above all else they care about the growth and safety of the corporation as a whole. Our CEO and Directors speak with all of us about the corporation’s long term goals, and not once have they needed to directly ask or direct someone to perform a task – every member jumps at the opportunity to prove their value to the corp and they get it done.

Let us continue next time and maybe the poster will tell us more like something more about Eve and Eve Ships.

Eve Online Ships: Sharing Part 1

I have read and heard some comments about Eve Online that it is really boring of an MMORPG and the redeeming factors only would be the Eve Online Ships. As I always say to them in response when I have the chance, you don’t know what you’re talking about. It is either they didn’t play the game that long or they are just plainly stupid. Sometimes it is a combination of both. So yeah, no need to reply to those posts.

Eve Online Ships

Eve Online Ships: Let’s Start

So I bumped into a long post in Eve Subreddit with someone sharing a story to us. It is not all about the action and the graphics. Sometimes an MMORPG is all about the experience and the stories created while playing the game, like Eve Online. Like this one:

Yes, I’m brand new. No, I’m not some scrub on here asking for tips – I’m capable of using the internet. Just wanted to share my experience so far, and why I think EVE Online may be one of the most brilliant games of all time.

I have 1400+ hours in Elite Dangerous, and I will always have a very warm place in my heart for it. But now that I’ve been playing EVE for all of a week or so, I’ve finally recognized why Elite couldn’t keep my attention. Despite its incredible flight control, the brilliant UI, the pure sense of freedom, and fun combat mechanics, nothing ever escaped your own cockpit – physically or mentally.

You are locked into that chair. Nothing outside of that cockpit really influences your goals. What I mean is that every goal you create for yourself is of a selfish nature. I need more money. I want a better ship. I need to increase my standing in my faction, because I want the faction bonus/ship/module. I want to explore. I want to be a pirate. In Elite Dangerous, you could play with other people, but there was never a reason to beyond merely wanting to. In fact, most activities were far less lucrative with other players and it wasn’t even that risky to fly alone.

Let us continue next time and maybe the poster will tell us more like something about Eve Ships.

TF2 Trading : More Overwatch

Last time we talked about Overwatch is better than Team Fortress 2 in terms of graphics. Granted, TF2 trading back that they are much older and the engine used was that of that year Team Fortress 2 came out. Again, that is no excuse. There could have been any updates or a new release of Team Fortress but they let it slide so yeah, Overwatch won that for me. Graphics isn’t all that to a game but then again, Overwatch overtook Team Fortress 2 in other aspects. Hear me out.

TF2 Trading: Characters

Shooting game like Counterstrike, Battlefield, Call of Duty, etc. have no personality in the characters they are using. You are a lifeless soldier (or terrorist) with a gun and shoot people. That’s it. Kudos to Team Fortress (Team Fortress 2 specifically) for putting some personality to the classes in the game. Who would have expected that each class or role has their own attitude and style? Right? These personalities were brought out more with their animated shorts. As a (former) Team Fortress 2 player, I have never thought that they act differently. Just after finding out about their animated shorts that I realized they have and are characters.

TF2 Trading

Overwatch outdid Team Fortress 2 though. Again, this is just for the sake of argument and I still think it is unfair to compare the two powerhouses of first person shooter. It is expected of Blizzard to develop an amazing storyline with colorful and unique characters. Just taking a look at their old games, you can expect and they definitely delivered on bringing life to their characters. Each character has their own story and why they are participating in the game. Their pasts are strongly established and why they are the way they are. Even the interactions of each character to another character in-game is absolutely amusing. So I guess that they took the idea from Team Fortress 2 that they should have different personalities in the game, who knows? Even if they did, they surely outdid theirselves! Blizzard, that is. Yup, please don’t put items or hats in Overwatch like those TF2 Items. It will ruin everything, in my opinion.

Do you think I’m wrong? Or you agree with me? Let us know in the comments section!

How Overwatch Won the TF2 Market

Again, like what I said in my last article, it is really against my will to compare Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch. They both only deserve love because how good they are, in their own rights. Sad to say, they share a demographic, the First Person Shooter players. If it is humanly possible to play two games at a same time, I would have with Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch. Since I am really swept by the Overwatch hype train, I am off the TF2 market. You might ask why I switched to Overwatch? Find out here!

TF2 Market, One Reason to Say Goodbye

Overwatch is better in so many ways than Team Fortress 2. Again, what I am saying is they are both good but Overwatch has and is just satisfying me more. I never and will never say Team Fortress 2 is bad.

TF2 Market

First and foremost, Overwatch has greater graphics. Yeah, I know. Graphics is not the basis of a better game and Team Fortress 2 is way older than Overwatch, obviously. Still, without any release of Team Fortress 3, Team Fortress 2 should have been updated on its graphics if it still wants to compete to the new first person shooters coming out right now e.g. Overwatch. With the lack of effort from Valve, maybe expecting Team Fortress 2 players to exercise their loyalty to the game, they didn’t update Team Fortress 2’s graphics. Maybe it is because it will affect the game or that is how TF2 and don’t need to change it? Whatever reason Valve may have, Overwatch still has a better graphics than Team Fortress 2. So should be expected from Blizzard. One is that they have insane technology on animated shorts, cut scenes. Glad they have applied it in the game itself not like that grandpa MMORPG they became famous for *ehem WoW* where they have a hard time updating the in-game graphics while the cinematics and scenes are just insanely lifelike.

There are many more things Overwatch overpowered Team Fortress 2 in my head so please do stay tune for those. Trade TF2 for Overwatch obviously for me.

Eve Online Ships: Worst Ships

For the past weeks, we’ve been talking about good ships and what to aim for. Who would play a game anyways aiming for the bad ones right? That is why we talked about the great Eve Online Ships first. So that you know which one to spend first your hard earned in-game currency, right? Cause that will be your baby. Anyways, how about the worst ships? Which Eve Online ships do you and other people think are the worst? Maybe they still have their uses but still, let us hear what people have to say why they think they are bad.

Eve Online Ships: Reddit

I came across this post looking for comments about which Eve Ships people think are bad down to worst. Good thing there was someone thinking of the same thing in looking for the worst ships in Eve Online:

I’m bored, so I’m asking dumb questions. What do you think the worst ships in eve are? What would be your top 5 crappiest ships in the game and why?

He actually gave his answers as well which was a good start on the topic:
Me, I only have a couple on my list that seem either underpowered or just not really filling a good role. For instance, I think the rorqual is busted, don’t know what I’d do to fix it, but the fact that it’s basically used like a POS module seems a bit lame. The primea is also not of much value (I didn’t even realize that existed until a different thread mentioned that one of my ideas would make a ship as useless as the primae). Deep space transports were a bit rubbish until recently as well.

The reason I ask is that I’m wondering what ships might get a re-balance in the next half decade or so, when CCP gets round to it.

Eve Online Ships

This is a good start. Let us see on the next write up on what other people think. Wait for it everyone!

TF2 Trading Punches With Overwatch

Here we are again, trying to take a look on both Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch. Honestly I hate comparing the two because they are both unique in their own and have made a name for themselves. Right? But then again, it is likely people to compare them against each other because of some semblances and they are under the same genre of game, first person shooter. With the recent release of Overwatch and the hype train it is riding right now, TF2 trading punches with the powerhouse from Blizzard is inevitable.

Team Fortress 2 Plus

Since Overwatch is the newest king of first person shooter to date (Battleborne is not released yet. DOOM is trailing in the race. Others are just completely irrelevant right now in my total honest opinion), let us take a look first on Team Fortress 2 side. What are the plus side of Team Fortress 2 against Overwatch? Well, honestly, Team Fortress 2, for me, has been shoved to the shadows because of the release of Overwatch. I am totally unbiased on this write-up but with the big success of Overwatch, I have to admit I might look so biased. Really, Overwatch is so good and Team Fortress 2 is just so outdated but admittedly is still strong. Maybe the biggest punch TF2 can throw to Overwatch is that they have (proven) numerous loyal players already. Overwatch has yet to see how many players will become unconditionally loyal to the game.

Trying to fight vs Overwatch

Overwatch Took Something from Team Fortress 2

I have to thank Team Fortress 2 first because without them, Overwatch might not exist right now because they have no staple to base on what they are right now. I really think TF2 had some influence on Overwatch. Oh thanks to Valve also for not releasing a Team Fortress 3 as well thus Blizzard taking over the market. LOL! Goodbye TF2 Items… (sadface)

Okay, Overwatch’s plus? So many! I will have to do that comparison on my next article. Wait for it guys!

TF2 Market in Trouble

It would be the nth time already if I say it again, Team Fortress 2 is just waiting for its funeral. I am not wishing for it, do not get me wrong. No one wants a great game to die, right? But due to TF2 being so old (FPS games get old fast, in my opinion) and nothing new is coming out from Valve (*ehem* Team Fortress 3), this will greatly affect the TF2 Market.

Moreover

We know that Team Fortress 2 is becoming stale. Well, it has become stale to non-loyal players of the game thus they are in search of a new first person shooting game. Their search is over though and Valve should be shaking their heads right now because of this new game that just came out. I am pretty sure you heard of the new first person shooter / MOBA from Blizzard. Yes, it is Overwatch. I am not surprised you know, of course. I got in the hype train as well! You did too? Again, I am not surprised.

TF2 Market

sad

With the past domination of Team Fortress 2 in the first person shooter market and it not releasing any new stuff to make its run longer, Blizzard took that opportunity and created Overwatch. But there are CS:GO, CoD and the likes? In my honest opinion, those other first person shooters don’t really matter. They are too weak of a competitor in the market and too boring. So yeah, they do not count. Going back to Overwatch, have you seen the hype about the game before and after the release date?! I did see, hear and actually feel the hype! If Valve did not waste the opportunity, they could have gotten the hype and sales of Overwatch for themselves. But no, they let another company take over the market and now they are in trouble. If it is possible. I will my trade TF2 copy for a another copy of Overwatch so I can share it to a friend who can play with me this awesome of a game!
