The newly released first person shooter – Overwatch, induced threat to counter strike. Wherein, people who are tired of counter strike might switch to Overwatch.

Blizzard heard that people like first person shooter, but they also like MOBA. As a result, they mixed two ingredients creating an addictive game – Overwatch. Players don’t call the characters of Overwatch, characters; they call it – heroes which is kind of, off, in some ways. But that is how blizzard does things; they try to make it cool, cooler than your grand-father, riding a skate board, resulting into a stampede of players.

Anyway, does Overwatch directly compete with counter strike? Or they seek different audience?

Blizzard created this big fishing net where they could capture two kinds of fishes: Fishes who like first person shooter and fishes who like multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA). And it is very successful; very successful that they run out of both digital copy and physical copy of the game, making blizzard millionaire in just a couple of days.

Overwatch is first person shooter, but it is totally different than counter strike. It is like how people differentiate a baboon to a gorilla. Both are monkeys, but different in types.

We can say that Overwatch has an indirect competition against counter strike.

Moreover, Overwatch’s gameplay is totally different than counter strike. In overwatch, composition weighs more than aiming. Wherein, aiming good can win you games, but good composition can win you tournaments; thus good aiming and good composition can make you participate in the world championship.

Counter strike has been in existence for a long time. It is the classic first person shooter. Unlike overwatch, in counter strike, aiming weighs more than composition.

Redeem Codes: Battleborn Vs. Overwatch

Forget Team Fortress 2, Dota, and LoL; the real competitors are Battleborn and Overwatch as they’re both new IPs vying for a good spot in an increasingly competitive esports scene. Battleborn is developed by Gearbox studios, the same developers of the Borderlands series, while Overwatch is a new and original IP from Blizzard of World of Warcraft fame.

They’re both shooters, yes, and they’re both intrinsically similar, but at the same time, play completely differently.

Redeem Codes: The Key Differences

 

  • Overwatch

Let’s start with Overwatch. Why start here? A bias? Maybe. But it also has something to do with how dead simple the game is. I don’t mean that as an insult or a compliment; but merely a statement of fact. It’s a team-based shooter that takes its roots from traditional 90’s shooters like Doom, Half Life, Quake, and, of course, Team Fortress the mod. It naturally takes inspiration from Team Fortress 2 and Blizzard freely admits that.

In terms of gameplay, it’s what you’d expect a shooter to be, but the real clincher in Overwatch is its solidly colorful cast of characters that are simply too attractive to ignore. With each hero having their own skills and abilities, each hero plays uniquely and fit roles that have to synergize well with a team. And, you know, that’s pretty much it about Overwatch.

It has some great lore, fantastic characters, and superbly fun gameplay that has been inspired from the tried-and-tested classics of the 90’s. There’s really no way to go wrong there.

  • Battleborn

Battleborn, on the other hand, can be very complicated. Calling itself a “hero shooter,” Battleborn sports also a ton of unique heroes that follow in the same vein as Overwatch, but has more skills, much more akin to a Moba than a team based shooter. If anything, the game is very similar to Smite, a 3rd person Moba with a similar concept. Battleborn also has single player and non-competitive cooperative modes coupled with an account and hero progression. Compared to Overwatch, Battleborn certainly has more to do than competitive matches.

However, the only problem with the game is that it tries to be a lot of things at the same time. It’s trying to be an MMO, an FPS Moba, a team based shooter, and a generic shooter campaign all at once. It then becomes hard to pinpoint what it actually wants to focus on, making it harder to be taken seriously as an esport unlike Overwatch’s committed single mindedness.

Redeem Codes: What’s better?

Well, you decide! They both are good at what they do and will certainly attract specific crowds. If you like the Moba format, best to go Battleborn redeem codes, but the iffy jack of all trades concept it has going may make it hard to have an Esports future. Choose Overwatch redeem codes if you want something more stable competitively, but it does lack other content apart from the competitive aspect. Both games are great, to be honest, and it will only matter what you find more enjoyable.

Steam Codes: Civilization VI Announcement Trailer

Amidst the rumble and tumble of other hyped things like Overwatch, Batman V Superman, the Warcraft Movie, and the imminence of E3 2016, some things, like Civilization 6, somehow got swept under the rug of mainstream obscurity.

That’s pretty sad, all things considered, because the 4X grand strategy IP is one of the greatest of its generation that has proven itself with every iteration of having deep complexity, addictive gameplay, and tons of content.

Firaxis games had recently announced their flagship game, Civilization 6, will be released on Oct. 21, 2016, along with a release trailer.

Steam Codes: A New 4X

The last game, Civilization 5, was launched to huge success and critical acclaim. However, the next Civilization game, Beyond Earth, while not directly in line with the core series, didn’t do so well due to the many imbalances and bugs.

Firaxis hopes to remedy that with the sixth installment of the series, claiming that the newest game in their popular IP will introduce new ways in engaging with the game world.

One of the biggest changes that we’ll see a departure in from previous titles is that cities will now actually grow and expand, physically. This means that cities won’t just occupy one tile in the game world but will eventually grow enough to occupy multiple tiles. This turns the standard play of Civilization on its head entirely as people will have to plan out even more where they decide to make a city, especially the first one.

The active research of a certain technology and culture will now even affect how progressive a certain civilization is. For example, while your civilization is actively researching Writing, meaning that it’s still in progress to be completed, certain stats will increase and decrease, affecting your Civilization’s actual work capacity to a certain extent. This makes planning out research much more essential when compared to past games. Interactions with other civilizations will also be greatly improved upon as it is leaning to how diplomacy worked in the 4th game rather than the watered-down, bipolar tendencies of AI in the 5th game (I’m looking at you, Gandhi).

Multiplayer will also be greatly enhanced, “designed to be easily completed in a single session,” as opposed to the very lengthy meta Civilization 5 has at present. While it sounds promising, one can’t help but wonder if they’re going to dumb down the gameplay to a point where it might not be as good. But all of that is speculation right now and all we can really do is remain positive that Civilization 6 will redeem Firaxis from the mess, Beyond Earth. Hopefully, we’ll get some early access for Steam codes on this game.

First person shooter games used to be really famous in the past few years, until MMORPG came into the spotlight. FPS genre was killed, losing almost all its attention, while people are focusing on MMORPG games.

Today, FPS seems stronger than before, as MMORPG genre grows very old and probably even dying.

First person shooter back in the day was offline. Players don’t meet people around the world, and this is one of the reason how MMORPG genre defeated FPS at the time. In MMORPG, people get to meet people from around the world while FPS is fixed locally.

When FPS finally connected in the internet, they became famous again.

FPS games are versatile. These games could be played with or without the intervention of internet.

Since MMORPG was really popular back then, FPS developers tried to copy some factors that the MMORPG have – Trading.

Even counter strike have a csgo market which has its own economy. The economy of CSGO is unique. Economies that never affect the gameplay because what are being traded are only cs go skins, primarily for aesthetic.

CSGO as the most basic, but strategic, can’t add more mechanics like how overwatch works because the thing about counter strike is it has a well balanced maps and guns. Changing these mechanics would destroy the core nature of counter strike.
